Not a great start to the summer. I'm down a bit in weight, but not adhering to diet guidelines very well and not logging food like I should. Candy bars are my downfall for some reason. And I have had a few Diet Cokes. Going to start working out at work a few days a week and recommit to the nutrition part of things. One aspect I have been able to largely act on is getting back to running. Not every day but as my daughter and wife get done with their education for the year that will become easier.

My Summer 2017 Plan
I've heard that the easiest way to get God to laugh is to tell him your plans. I have to agree. Over the last few months, I have had plans decimated and new ones start. Some still up in the air and some won't ever be the same. One thing I've done since Christmas is dropped 40 pounds, well 35 as I have gained 5 back. I Just had to prove I could make a big change, and I did. Through diet and a pretty strict running program, I slimmed down.
Now its time to get back on the horse and ride it to my goal. I'm at 195 pounds and I'm on my way to 160. Then I'm going to work my way back to 175 the right way. I'm choosing this summer to concentrate on that, along with some other healthy changes. The rules:
Challenges
June
July
August
TBD - would love suggestions.
Nutrition
- Drinks
- No Booze - well maybe Fathers Day...
- No Soft drinks - I've never been able to do this but I am now.
- Allowed - Coffee (2 cups per day), water, and iced tea (decaf)
- Foods
- No refined sugar
- Minimal grains
- I'm counting calories using FitBit and must eat 1000 calories less than I burn
- No food after 8pm - a little late but I gotta live in reality
- Cheat Days - Father's Day, July 4th, Statehood Day In Hawaii (8/18) I had to pick a cheat day in August - my wife digs Hawaii
Other Activity Rules
- Must hit 10K steps per day
- Running 5 days per week (min 3.5 mile runs)
More notes-
I have at least one business trip during the summer, maybe two. These are challenges from a nutrition and activity standpoint, but I will do my absolute best. I'm also going to be going home to Arkansas for vacation and sometimes that is a challenge for food, but a place I generally overachieve on exercise.
Before pic was taken yesterday and I will be posting it along with an after pic on 9/1 to see how I changed. Wish me luck! I'll be posting pretty regular updates and my Runkeeper data will be updating automatically as well as daily posts from fitbit via Twitter.
